The worst thing you can do in this life is to be passive. Don’t let others make your decisions for you. Because no one makes decisions for you. Take. Your. Time. Everyone is in such a rush these days. We all need to slow down and relax.
Especially when you’re at a fast food restaurant.
A line-up may be forming behind you, but don’t let that deter you. By taking your precious time and holding up the line-up you are in-turn giving everyone behind you much-needed time to decide what they really want to eat. Not what they think they want to eat, but what they really want to eat. How are they supposed to reach that conclusion unless you’re holding up the line-up to give them that time to decide for themselves?
But back to you for a second. Do you order what you usually order? Maybe you do that, sure. Conventional. But maybe you’re in the mood for something different. Chicken perhaps. Or a salad. Haha that’s a fun idea. But seriously, what are you going to order? And you haven’t even begun to think about the drinks that are available.
Let’s talk drinks, you could get a sample size, extra small, small, medium, large, extra-large, large plus-plus, large triple-plus, or gargantuan. The possible sandwich and drink combinations are mathematical. Do this math with a pencil and paper if you have to. Once you’ve calculated the possible combinations look for your lucky number. Do you have one? If so maybe go with that choice, but that meal will be different depending on the order that the variables were listed in.
At this point the line up behind you is probably asking you to step aside if you’re not ready, or growing increasingly angry or agitated. Don’t give up your spot. You worked hard to get to the front of the line-up. Yes, this one meal that you’re minutes away from eating will probably be one of a million meals that you’ll eat during the course of your lifetime making it kind of irrelevant as to your food choice today, but don’t let that get in your way. It’s almost decision time.
If another employee appears and another till is opened then stand between both tills so that the line-up doesn’t split into two. This will give you the most dominant position in the line-up. You were already at the head of the line-up, don’t allow the line-up to fracture into two line-ups. That would upset the line-up hierarchy. Analyze each cashier. Which one looks like they are best suited to take care of your needs? Take notes and do a detailed breakdown of the pros and cons of each option.
If graphics help you then take further additional time to create a PowerPoint presentation or at least enter your data into an Excel spreadsheet. This will help you organize your information so that it’s easier to digest. Pull out a readers digest and look for inspiration there. Perhaps there’s an anecdote that will help you discover what you should eat today. Check your horoscope.
At this point you might consider calling a psychic hotline as a last resort. Touch base with several psychics (at least 3 but I recommend 6 or 7) and ask them what you will choose to eat. What will you decide? The psychics should have the answers. Once you’ve received their answers then compare them and remove any duplicates.
By this time you should have three options available. Pick one and enjoy your meal!
